Cinematic Color Tone: Tutorial

Below is a Tutorial on how to apply a Cinematic Color Tone effect to your images.

 

 

 

Adding the Cinematic Color Tone to your image will define a certain color temperature given by the value of the Kalvin Scale. Doing this balances out your colors, making whites appear true white and the black colors appear true black. All of the other colors will adapt to those conditions.

Cinematic Color Tone Tutorial: Steps

Step 1: Duplicate Image (Background)

Step 2: Select Normal Panel

– Select (Overlay) on duplicate

Step 3: Click Filter – Other – High Pass
– Slide Radius to 42.9 Click OK
– Slide Opacity of duplicate down to about 42%

Step 4: Go to Vibrance:
Saturation: -32

Step 5: Go to Gradient: Click Gradient tool in presets and make sure the tiny boxes are all black except the top right (keep white)
– Make style the Radial
– Click reverse – center where you want it to be – Scale to 221

Step 6: Create new fill – Click Gradient Map
– Click Gradient
– Click Soft Light- In Right Corner
– Turn Opacity down 36%

Step 7: Create New Fill – Gradient Map
– Click Orange and Purple color blend
– Change Purple to a blue color
-Go to Normal Panel – Click Soft Light
– Turn Opacity Down 42%

Step 8: Create New Fill – Curves
– Change RGB Selection – Move Blue up a little and put a point in the middle of the line.
– Move Red over to the right a little

Step 9: Create New Fill – Exposure
Exposure: +0.1
Offset: -0.0038
Gamma Correction: +1.13
